Values, Mission, Vision – There is No Debate Campaign
Wyoming Values – The Code of the West
We value the quality of life offered by our state and join with other concerned citizens in fostering safe and nurturing environments in homes, schools, neighborhoods, and communities. In the There is No Debate Prevention Campaign we embrace the Code of the West approved in 2010 as the official Code of Ethics of the State of Wyoming:
- Live each day with courage.
- Take pride in your work.
- Always finish what you start.
- Do what has to be done.
- Be tough, but fair.
- When you make a promise, keep it.
- Ride for the brand.
- Talk less and say more.
- Remember that some things aren’t for sale.
- Know where to draw the line.
Mission of the There is No Debate Campaign
Through the There is No Debate campaign the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police (WASCOP) will provide education, resources, and prevention tools based on empirically supported data to inform Wyoming residents, especially parents and families, about the harms alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs cause to people and communities. Our focus is on community awareness and education – the There is No Debate campaign takes no position on public policy issues.
Vision of the There is No Debate Campaign
Through the There is No Debate campaign the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police is building a statewide coalition of leaders from law enforcement, substance abuse prevention professionals, educators, civic and community groups, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, and especially parents, and equipping them with fact-based messaging to enable them to speak out about the harms alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs cause people and communities, especially our youth.
Who we Are
Wyoming youth are bombarded almost daily with positive messaging about marijuana through music, games, clothing, peers, movies, and especially through social media. Many adults are also unaware of how marijuana harms lives, and are confused by misinformation on perceived benefits of medical use of marijuana.
Members of the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police (WASCOP) see the negative impact of drug abuse each day and we recognize more needs to be done to make our residents aware of how alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs are harming lives and disrupting our communities. WASCOP launched the There Is No Debate Campaign – a fact-based Prevention Campaign led by a coalition of passionate community leaders committed to making others aware of the risks of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
